Leo's Ruling Planet
Leo is ruled by THE SUN! In astrology, the word "planet" is used to identify the celestial body each zodiac sign receives the most influence from. The Sun represents the will, ego, consciousness and is associated with the "ring" finger used in marriage, which has been shown to be connected to the heart. Leo Myth
There are many myths associated with Leo. The most well known is the first of Hercules's 12 Labors: To kill the Namean Lion. It was very difficult for Hercules to kill the Lion because its arrows could not penetrate the Lion's fur which was said to be as strong as gold. Athena advised Hercules to use the lions own claws to skin him after he was victorious. Among the constellations, the Lion was considered the crowning star of Jupiter (Zeus) and Juno (Hera) with the quadruple star system, Regulus at its head.
